Vodacom Tanzania has reduced its calling rates from Vodacom to other local networks (off-net) by more than 50 percent. This is in line with the company’s effort to ensure that telecommunication is affordable to all in the country.

The new rates now allow Vodacom users to call to another local network for as little as 3 Tanzanian shilling per second (before tax). Previously customers were charged six and half (6.5) Tanzanian shillings per second when calling to other networks.

The reduction makes Vodacom by far the cheapest tariff to call other mobile companies that appear to be cheaper by charging 6.5 to 7 shillings, Vodacom now charges 3 shillings to call other network.

This comes a few months after Vodacom introduced one (1) Tanzania shilling per second well known as HABARI NDIO HII and with other products such as Cheka one can call for less than a quarter shilling.

With a subscriber base of eight (8) million in the country, the new tariff will add value to customers as Vodacom continues to offer other products and services that continue to make communication affordable.

Vodacom Tanzania Managing Executive: Corporate Affairs, Ms Mwamvita Makamba announced the new tariff yesterday dubbing it a revolution in the telecommunication industry in the country.

“As stated when launching Habari Ndio Hii we have invested heavily in our network to ensure we provide meaningful products and services that assist in economic empowerment of the people” added Ms Makamba.

Vodacom has been in Tanzania for 10 years now and the company predicts huge growth in the sector this year and years to come.

“We are very optimistic about the future and excited to be able to provide the affordable tariffs with high quality service in the market”, she said.

Vodacom Tanzania, will still maintain its other Tariff promotions such as Vodajamaa and ChekaTime.

“Vodacom assures its customers that this is only the continuation of the company’s innovations and many more great products are to come”, said Ms Makamba.
